INTO THE JORDAN

God does not avoid anything. There is nothing that can stop Him nor stand in His way. That is why, when He invites us to join Him, it is often right into where others might not go.

HIGH TIDE
Joshua 3 records the crossing of the Jordan River by the 1-6 million Hebrews as they went in to possess the Promised Land. At this particular season, the Jordan was a raging river. It was the season when the Jordan would overflow its banks. At precisely this time, the Lord invited them to follow Him right into the river!

11 “Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over ahead of you into the Jordan.
12 “Now then, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe.
13 “It shall come about when the soles of the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, and the waters which are flowing down from above will stand in one heap.”
14 So when the people set out from their tents to cross the Jordan with the priests carrying the ark of the covenant before the people,
15 and when those who carried the ark came into the Jordan, and the feet of the priests carrying the ark were dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks all the days of harvest),
16 the waters which were flowing down from above stood and rose up in one heap, a great distance away at Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan; and those which were flowing down toward the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. So the people crossed opposite Jericho.
17 And the priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan while all Israel crossed on dry ground until all the nation had finished crossing the Jordan.

From the city of Adam to the Dead Sea is 50 miles! God opened the river over a 50-mile stretch to allow millions of His people to cross. They also walked across on dry ground … one more sign that He was with them as they headed to receive the land He had promised to their ancestor Abraham.

Where is the Lord taking you? Don't be afraid if it looks like there's a raging river ahead. He has no need to divert around a problem, a difficulty, or a circumstance. If you are with Him and He with you, He can part waters and take you across on dry ground. Get into a position to hear Him and follow Him explicitly. He will lead you, and the world will be amazed.

But a man or woman with the proper view of themselves can be a strong yet humble force for the kingdom of God. What a mighty creature we can become when we realize who we are in Christ … and that all the glory goes to Him!

The worst evaluation that could be given of true believers is that they are “walking like mere men.” True believers are Spirit-men. Human, yes, but humans in whom Christ dwells. We have everything we need in us, and our lives are to be lived by trusting Him to live through us … giving us His understanding, supplying us with His character, directing us with His perfect guidance
