THE LIGHT YOU CANNOT DO WITHOUT

 
 
The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin,
The Light of the world is Jesus.
Like sunshine at noonday His glory shone in.
The light of the world is Jesus.
 
The old hymn captures in a verse the truth about our world and the glory of Christ. Isaiah prophecies of Christ’s coming and proclaims it with stunning clarity.
 
I will also make You a light of the nations so that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.” (Isaiah 49:6b)
 
UNIVERSAL DARKNESS
We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory God had planned for us when we were created. There is nothing we can do about the penalty for our sins. “The wages of sin is death,” said Paul, which means we are eternally separated from the life of God. Our separation from the Light can explain every bit of the darkness in our lives—the confusion, lostness, and anxiety about now and the future.
 
ENTER JESUS
But then, in startling brilliance, God sent His Son, Jesus, to come and live as a man and then die a death in our place for our sins. He bore the penalty of separation from God on the cross so we would not have to be estranged from God. Then, He rose from the dead to verify forever that He was the Savior and that all who would believe (trust, depend, rely on) in Him would find forgiveness for our sins and eternal life.
 
AND YOU...
Have you believed? Have you come to the end of yourself and realized the darkness in your life? A darkness that you cannot change?
 
And then, have you, in humility, realized your need for a Savior to deliver you from the darkness? Have you turned to Him and cried out for the deliverance that only He can give? And have you trusted in His promise that “all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved?”
 
Christ has come to bring light and life to you and to the whole world. He has been bringing light to people throughout the world for centuries … and He will bring His light to you if you ask Him.
