JESUS' EARLY MORNING ROUTINE AND OURS

JESUS' EARLY MORNING ROUTINE AND OURS

There was a habit that Jesus seemed to have acquired. We see it multiple places in Scripture, but it is most clearly seen in Mark 1:35:

In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.

THE BLESSED PROMISE OF ANSWERED PRAYER

Bill Elliff Prayer

In my trouble I cried to the Lord, and He answered me. (Psalm 120:1) In this world there is one certainty for every man: he will have trouble. Jesus Himself stated this fact. ""In this world you will have tribulation,"" He said. The Psalmist made this personal. ""In MY trouble,"" he said, reminding us that each of us have difficulties that are particular to us. Thankfully there is no problem we face that others have not faced (1 Corinthians 10:13), but our troubles are our troubles nonetheless. THE GREAT FEAR ... is that we are alone. That we are left...

The Power of a Cry

Bill Elliff Prayer

There is a reason, in God's Word, why there is a differentiation between the word ""prayed"" and ""cried out."" To cry out indicates a depth of passion, desperation, and need, that is not always in our normal prayers. The Psalmist used the word in Psalm 107 as He speaks of the Israelites dilemma and the Lords' faithful response. 4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desert region; They did not find a way to an inhabited city.  5 They were hungry and thirsty; Their soul fainted within them.  6 THEN THEY CRIED OUT TO THE LORD IN THEIR TROUBLE;...

One of the greatest accomplishments in all of human history occurred through Nehemiah and the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem in 52 days. Nehemiah was a slave who was in bondage in a foreign land. But, He was connected through prayer to the God who made and controls the universe. All that occurred could not have been dreamed, but it happened because Nehemiah was a man to whom prayer was a first response, not a last resort. Notice the consistency of his prayer. 1. He prayed when he was burdened (Nehemiah 1:4) When I heard these words, I sat...

PRAYER THAT SETS PEOPLE FREE

Bill Elliff Prayer

""So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God."" (Acts 12:5) It is tragic that we rarely understand and utilize the power of united prayer. We fail to realize that prayer can do anything that God can do, for prayer connects us to God and all His resources. And, God delights to answer prayer that is offered in His name. He is particularly moved by UNITED prayer!  Acts, Chapter 12, records the amazing story of Peter's capture and imprisonment by Herod. Herod was so paranoid and proud that he...
