12 REASONS YOU CAN TRUST GOD THIS YEAR

December 27, 2017

The great question in most people's minds (whether they realize it or not) is this: ""Can I really trust God? Is He trustworthy? Will He do what He claims He will do?""

Those who have stepped out in faith on His promises have increasingly come to know and believe. But all of us have larger tests: areas where God wants us to try out His faithfulness.

THE PSALMIST'S TESTIMONY

One of the reasons we cherish the Psalms is because they are the record of a real man, with real doubts and fears, trials and decisions, who ultimately believed God. He walked by faith. And, as he did, He discovered (and recorded for us) God's incredible faithfulness.

Psalm 146 speaks of the blessings he knew would come to the man who did ""not trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation,"" but trusted in the Lord.

Here are his 12 reasons why we can trust God:

1. HE MADE EVERYTHING: ""Who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them"" (vs. 6)

2. HE'S FAITHFUL: ""Who keeps faith forever"" (vs. 6)

3. HE'S JUST: ""Who executes justice for the oppressed"" (vs. 7)

4. HE FEEDS THE HUNGRY: ""Who gives food to the hungry"" (vs. 7)

5. HE SETS CAPTIVES FREE: ""The Lord sets the prisoners free."" (vs. 9)

6. HE HEALS: ""The Lord opens the eyes of the blind” (vs. 8)

7. HE LIFTS THE BROKEN: ""The Lord raises up those who are bowed down"" (vs. 8)

8. HE LOVES THOSE WHO WALK RIGHTLY: ""The Lord loves the righteous"" (vs. 8)

9. HE PROTECTS THE STRANGERS: ""The Lord protects the strangers"" (vs. 9)

10. HE TAKES CARE OF THE ORPHAN AND WIDOW: ""He supports the fatherless and the widow"" (vs. 9)

11. HE CONFUSES THE UNGODLY: ""But He thwarts the way of the wicked"" (vs. 9)

12. HE REIGNS OVER EVERYTHING AND HAS ULTIMATE POWER: ""The Lord will reign forever!"" (vs. 10)

If you will trust Him, you will find all these reasons, and more, to be true … and you will have, at the end of this coming year, your own song of praise!

Dear Lord, as I stand on the end of one year and the edge of another, I thank You for Your perfect faithfulness to me! Every place I have trusted You, You have always proven faithful. Even when I have been faithless, You are faithful!

In this coming year, Dear Lord, help me to BELIEVE! Teach my heart to trust You completely in every moment of the common day. Let this be a year of great prayer and increasing belief so the world will know that You are a prayer hearing and prayer answering God! And, at the end of each day and this year, let my praise song be to You alone!

We talk every week, and our lives now are intricately intertwined. We will ride into the sunset together, by the grace of God.

Psalm 107 calls us to “consider the lovingkindness of the Lord” (Vs. 43). Each paragraph illustrates God’s lovingkindness to a different group of people, always people who did not deserve it. See if these describe you right now or have in the past.
